Springvale Community Garden

Springvale Community Garden is being developed on the site of the former Rainbow Plants Nursery next to the River Don in Springvale, at the east side of Penistone. Springvale is just half-a-mile from Penistone town Centre, and a ten minute walk from Penistone railway station and the Trans Pennine Trail.

Springvale, the valley of the springs, was Penistone’s industrial suburb from the mid 19^th century with the coming of the railway and steelworks. Other related industries developed and although the heavy ones have now gone, it is still the main industrial area for the town
